Instructions: Using a writing resource such as Word, choose one of the topics below and compose a five-paragraph essay. Create a descriptive essay that includes a dominant impression or mood, and establish that impression or mood in the thesis. Use active verbs and appeals to the senses as you compose your essay.
Topic 1 is a narrative and probably fiction. Use the past tense and the organization I showed you in class.
Topics 2, 3, and 4 should use the present tense and should be non-fiction. You must decide the best method of organization, such as emphatic order or space order, for these other topics.
All topics should be told from a first-person point of view.
You are responsible for submitting the essay before the deadline and receiving a Similarity Report of 10% or less.
Your first paragraph is the introduction. Provide background. The thesis is at the end of the introductory paragraph, and the introduction is 4-6 sentences long. Avoid an announcement approach.
The next three paragraphs are the body paragraphs. All must begin with a topic sentence and be 7-10 sentences long.
The conclusion is 3-4 sentences long.
